What H1N1 tells us about Education

If the H1N1 virus (swine flu) infected only the scientifically illiterate, the U.S. would be a dead zone. The bizarre ramblings of confused reporters, and frightened questions from citizens and government officials alike, highlight the critical need for improved science education in the United States.

As George Santayana said: Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

We as a country appear to be trying to extend that statement to: Those who do not learn are doomed.
